The Full Story
When MTN Ghana set out to build a next-generation technology innovation hub for the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, they needed more than a contractor — they needed an independent ICT architect who could see the whole system.
Inflexions’ Director of Business Solutions was appointed lead independent ICT consultant on Project UBIA, taking end-to-end ownership of the information and communications infrastructure architecture, data centre design, and delivery oversight. His mandate: ensure every design decision serves both today’s operational demands and tomorrow’s innovation ambitions.
Phase 1 — Tier III Data Centre (In Progress)
The centrepiece is a Tier III-compliant data centre engineered for high availability, maintainability, and continuous operations — even during maintenance activities. The architecture, designed and supervised by our team, encompasses dual-path power systems with UPS and generator redundancy, cooling strategies optimised for high-density AI workloads, physical security with layered access control and monitoring, scalable network and cabling infrastructure, and space planning for future compute, storage, and AI acceleration capacity.
Phase 2 — Industry 5.0 Facilities (Advisory)
Beyond the data centre, our Director provided strategic some advisory for the hub’s advanced technology facilities — AI and machine learning laboratories, robotics and smart manufacturing centres, among a few other subsystems. The advisory framework ensures that technology, people, and processes are designed together — reflecting Industry 5.0 principles where human creativity and intelligent systems coexist.
The hub is designed to catalyse digital innovation, applied research, and industrial collaboration, positioning Ghana as a regional leader in advanced digital infrastructure. The project ensures the technology foundation in the country is resilient, scalable, and aligned with long-term innovation goals — enabling MTN and its partners to sustainably grow the ecosystem.
